Summer of Safe Nights

40 Years. $40,000. 230 Safe Nights.

For nearly 40 years, Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter has provided safety, support, and hope to survivors of domestic violence and their children throughout our community.

As we prepare to celebrate our 40th Anniversary this August, we are inviting our community to join us for our Summer of Safe Nights campaign. Together, we hope to raise $40,000 during June, July, and August – enough to provide approximately 230 Safe Nights for survivors seeking refuge, healing, and a fresh start.

What is a Safe Night?

A Safe Night is more than a place to sleep.

A Safe Night means emergency shelter. It means a hot meal, a safe place for children, transportation to critical appointments, access to advocacy and court support, therapy and support groups, safety planning, and compassionate care from trained professionals available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

When a survivor reaches out for help, a Safe Night ensures we can say “yes”.

The average cost of providing one Safe Night is approximately $174.

Why Now?

While summer is often a slower season for charitable giving, it is not a slower season for domestic violence.

Our shelter remains full. Our advocates continue answering crisis calls. Survivors continue seeking safety and support.

For many families, summer can create additional barriers. Children are out of school and away from trusted adults. Food insecurity often increases. Transportation challenges can become more difficult to navigate. Survivors attempting to leave abusive situations may find themselves with fewer safe places to turn.

At the same time, Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter continues to face significant funding challenges. Since 2019, we have lost more than 85% of our grant funding. Community support has never been more important to ensuring that lifesaving services remain available to those who need them most.

How Can You Help?

Anyone can participate.

Your workplace.
Your church.
Your book club.
Your neighborhood.
Your family.
Your group of friends.

Host a backyard BBQ and collect donations. Organize a friendly competition at work. Hold a yard sale. Create a Facebook fundraiser. Challenge your friends to support survivors. Every effort, great or small, helps create Safe Nights for families in crisis.

If your organization would like to host a Lunch & Learn, we would love to visit with your team and share more about domestic violence, the work of Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter, and ways your organization can get involved.

Give. Engage. Win.

We want this summer to be more than a fundraiser—we want it to be a community-wide celebration of 40 years of impact.

Throughout the Summer of Safe Nights campaign, we’ll be hosting raffles and giveaways designed to encourage participation, welcome new supporters, and make giving back a little more fun.

Every donation made during the campaign will earn entries into our summer raffles. Those who become monthly donors will receive additional entries and special recognition as members of our Safe Nights Sustainer Circle.

Prizes will be announced throughout the summer and may include:

• Candy baskets
• Cases of Red Bull
• NWAWS merchandise and t-shirts

The Power of Monthly Giving

While every gift makes a difference, monthly donors provide something especially powerful: stability.

A recurring monthly gift helps ensure that support is available every day of the year—not just during moments of crisis. Monthly giving allows us to plan ahead, respond quickly, and continue providing shelter, advocacy, therapy, transportation, and support to survivors and their children.

Whether it’s $10, $25, $40, or more each month, recurring gifts create lasting impact.

Your Impact

Our goals are simple:

  • Raise $40,000
  • Provide 230 Safe Nights
  • Celebrate 40 Years of Service

Every dollar helps provide safety, healing, and hope for survivors of domestic violence.

Because a Safe Night is never just a bed…

It’s the advocate answering the phone at 2 a.m.
It’s a child eating a full meal.
It’s transportation to a court hearing.
It’s a counseling session that begins the healing process.
It’s the first step toward independence.
It’s hope.

Have you ever needed a safe place to go?
Have you ever known someone who was afraid to leave but didn’t know where to turn?
Have you ever wanted to make a meaningful difference in the lives of your neighbors?

This is your opportunity.

Join us this Summer of Safe Nights and help ensure that every survivor who reaches out for help has a safe place to begin their fresh start.
